Studio Number One founded by Artist Shepard Fairey and a full Los Angelesproduction team created a thirty-second viral video “Trolls” aimed atDemocratic leaning Millennials who may not vote in the 2018 midterms. AgencyExecutive Producer Virginia Bertholet of Bertholet Integrated Content,Richmond, VA, says this spot is one of a total campaign of 23 spots intendedto grab viewer attention by looking different from typical live actionpolitical videos. “On the whole (political ads) are nicely shot and can bepowerful – but they mostly look the same, using talking heads. I waslooking for a way to visually cut through the clutter and attract neweyes,” she added. 
“Trolls, written by Creative Director and Copywriter Todd Carey does thisten times over”, Bertholet continues. “Animation can visually get apoint across instantly and help explain more complex ideas in a simplemanner. It’s perfect for political advertising and yet I’d never seen it used before,” she adds. “Trolls goes further and makes me laugh outloud”, she says. The spot was voiced by SNL Alum Laraine Newman and comedytalent Brendon Small.
