Story To this day, to ’drive like a woman’ is the go-to insult used on Norwegian roads.The spot is narrated by mechanics – a group of people the audience typically have preconceptions about as not being very progressive. The audiences own prejudice is used against them as it’s revealed who they are talking about. They are in fact not mansplaining, but confirming what statistics and their own experience tells us is the truth: female drivers are the safest drivers on the road.This is not only a message about road safety from a car insurance company. It is also a message that aims to change derogatory attitude towards female drivers.
Philosophy Older men in a repair shop telling younger men how to drive could very well be a setup for a bit of toxic masculinity. However, in this new spot for Norwegian insurance company Gjensidige, director Andreas Risser plays around with our expectations to deliver some facts about how female drivers are statistically safer on the road than male drivers.
