A Christmas Tree you can play?

It’s true. Some extra festive fun has come to CHEP HQ with the arrival of Donkey Klaus, the interactive Christmas Tree. Whether you get to the top of the tree or just highly decorated, it’s barrels of fun. So next time you’re in, take some time out to test your skills.

CHE Proximity built the game in Swift for Apple’s new tvOS. Modeled on the original Donkey Kong, they recreated most of the gameplay, graphics and sound. The game itself was built sideways to display in portrait orientation, and in keeping with the authentic retro experience, they even managed to connect a clone NES controller over a web service. The ‘Donkey Klaus’ Christmas Tree is quite possibly the most over engineered 8-bit game for Apple TV.
