In China a child goes missing every three minutes. And while the first hour after an abduction is critical, current laws don’t consider these children “missing” for 24 hours. Dissatisfied with this policy, Save the Children designed an app that capitalises on the millions of smartphone users in China. Harnessing the power of location-based technology, the app allows parents to blast out a photo of the missing child within seconds to every smartphone within a 1000 kilometre radius. If a nearby citizen spots the child, they can alert parents and send their location with a simple click.
