The exhibition spans ten years of internationally-recognised creative work, which demonstrates the company’s success in cultivating a roster of unique and innovative directing talent across animation, live-action and interactive media.

The directors’ projects on display at Le Cube include a Cannes Lions Grand Prix-winning commercial, an Oscar-nominated short film, a Grammy-music video, and a Webby Award-winning interactive film using the latest web technology. Nexus has also included some of its newly-signed talent, whose backgrounds and stylistic influences range from animation to architecture, illustration to photography.

The exhibition presents each piece of work on an individual screen with headphones across the gallery space and it will open to the public from the 31 January, running until mid July this year.

Carine Le Malet, Artistic Director of Le Cube, says; “I have followed Nexus for a long time and have already shown some of it creations at Le Cube. In my opinion, Nexus is one of the best design studios in Europe. It brings everything it touches to a higher level. It certainly comes from the fact that Nexus have chosen to work with creative people who are also artists. This is the reason why artists from Nexus like Quayola or Memo have also been exhibited at Le Cube several times during the last 12 years. It seemed important to me to honour Nexus with an exhibition in an art space like Le Cube. This gives the opportunity to discover the fabulous productions of Nexus for a sector of public who are not yet aware of their work. And for those already in the know, they can discover Nexus’ latest creations in this great show!”

Great news! Smith & Foulkes have been selected for Campaign’s Top Ten Directors of 2013 list! Well done boys!

It was another strong year for the Oscar-nominated (for the 2008 animated short This Way Up) Alan Smith and Adam Foulkes. Most of that was down to the stunning and intricate “hands” spot for Honda, which was released in the summer and received industry-wide plaudits. The pair, who are represented by Nexus Productions, also had creative director credits on the animation for Bombay Sapphire’s “imagination distilled”.

Johnny Kelly has created ‘Food’,’Clothing’, and ‘Shelter’ for The Salvation Army for their 2013 Christmas Campaign. Each ad sees coins dropped into The Salvation Army kettle, making the initial darker scenes transform into optimistic scenarios.

Created using stop motion animation, the beautifully-rigged characters and worlds highlight just a few coins can help change people’s lives, take people off the street and give them food, clothing and shelter

Inspired by a Frankensteinian cocktail of W Heath Robinson and Mad Magazine’s ‘Fold Ins’, this series of ads were the perfect opportunity to live out my fanboy fantasies when it

came to animated transitions. When I was little I was hooked by a little wooden lifeboat donation box – you drop a coin in and the lifeboat rocks. I wanted to create something that had the same warmth as this, and a similar immediacy. Without having to drain my parents pocket change…
