Story | Chile is one of the most earthquake-prone countries in the world: over 30% of the world’s seismic energy is released there. During emergencies radio is vitally important, because it provides broad coverage and usually remains operating when other services have gone down. This led ONEMI (the Oficina Nacional de Emergencia del Ministerio del Interior) to commission a sustainable emergency radio with photovoltaic cells that function without conventional electricity or batteries. The folding radio became part of a larger earthquake emergency kit. |
