Testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer in young men in Canada, but it’s also the most treatable if caught early. To shed light on the issue and help guys get more comfortable talking about their balls, we created a dynamic testicle duo to get the conversation started to raise awareness about this type of cancer, and the importance of regular examinations to check for lumps, bumps and irregularities.
Philosophy
To shed light on this alarming male-targeted disease, and make guys more comfortable talking about their balls, we created the #LetsTalkBalls campaign. Enter Larry and Roger, a dynamic testicle duo whose aim is to get the conversation started, bantering and of course calling out those who ignore their balls. Most importantly, they thread health advice into their discussion in a casual but noteworthy manner.
Problem
Testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer in young men. This specific group of guys are still figuring out who they are, and may not be entirely confident or attuned with their bodies. Since testicular cancer lives in somewhat of an embarrassing subject matter, our challenge was to raise awareness by breaking down the taboo and give a receptive voice to the issue.
Result
The campaign ran the first two weeks prior to and during Testicular Cancer Awareness month in April. The awareness videos can be viewed on testicularcancer.ngo, its social channels and on influencers’ networks including @FuriousPete, radio talent Todd Shapiro and David Amber, studio host of Hockey Night in Canada and NHL #Sportsnet Syracuse. A partnership was sparked with Mind Geek, donating a desktop and mobile channel, ads and social media mention on Porn Hub. In just four weeks, we collected over 1,580 impression and 605 views on our video Porn: Our favourite kind of Porn is Ball Play. The adult site will continue to host and support Testicular Cancer Canada into May.
