Valentina Culatti Alisi

Managing Director at unit9, London
LONDON, United Kingdom

About me

Since 2014 I’ve been Managing Director at innovation studio UNIT9 – leading an award-winning team of over 200 creatives and technologists in 5 locations around the world, working across Digital, Gaming, Experiential, Film and VR.

I joined UNIT9 in 2007 as an interactive Producer. In 2014 I took over as MD of the entire UNIT9 group, incorporating the NYC, LA, Berlin units from the London head office.

Collaboration is the key element to my management of UNIT9, so I encourage my teams around the world to work smoothly together. Many of UNIT9’s productions are created simultaneously in multiple countries, with British or German creatives working with Polish technologists and American clients.

I believe that best practice is key in production, to deliver to the highest standard, and allow the industry to continue to develop. In 2014 I led a team of digital specialists in London in creating the first set of industry guidelines for interactive advertising design development, called the ‘IPA/APA Interactive Framework for Producing Interactive Projects in Advertising’. In 2015 I was co-signator of the APA/IPA Interactive production contract, aiming to do for interactive content what the PIBS (Production insurance briefing schedule parts 1 & 2) does for TV production.

I am a session leader for D&AD Professional training.
In 2015 I was part of British Arrows Jury as well as Digital Jury at Ciclope Festival.
In 2016 I was president for Interactive and Mobile Jury for ADCE.
I was awarded as one of 20 AdAge Women To Watch Europe 2016.

I’m very proud to say that under my management, UNIT9 has been listed in Ad Age's Global Production A-List; it has won an Emmy, a BAFTA, a Gold Lion at Cannes and many other awards at the highest international level. It also became the second company in the world to be awarded 100 FWAs.
