Story | NORWEGIAN CAMPAIGN USES A REAL TRUCK DRIVER AND HIS MUM TO DELIVER IMPORTANT ROAD SAFETY MESSAGE Norwegian authorities and the road haulage sector have been trying to communicate with foreign drivers entering Norway for years, with no success. So in a final attempt to create awareness of the specific regulations and challenging driving conditions, the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority and social partners went to the one person that the driver couldn’t ignore – the mother. In a new campaign from Oslo-based agency Geelmuyden Kiese for the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority - the governing body the supervises the implementation of healthy work practices - and the social partners, we follow a Polish truck driver who's mother joins him as he makes the long distance journey through Norway. |
Philosophy | Norwegian authorities have for years been trying to communicate with foreign truck drivers about specific regulations and driving conditions in Norway. But the drivers haven't been listening. So what do you do then? You get the help of the one person they can't ignore: Mum. |
Problem | Every 24 hours, 3,000 lorries cross the border into Norway, where one out of three lorry drivers are foreign. Foreign lorry drivers are not used to Norway’s challenging driving conditions, and are consequently three times more likely to be involved in a road traffic accident. Many of these drivers are also underpaid because they are not aware of their rights as employees. |
Result | The result became the film «The Truck Driver’s Mother», where a real Polish truck driver, Lukasz Gorzynik, took his mother, Anna Gorzynik, on a driving assignement out of the ordinary. |
