I was born and raised in Brazil, where I learned a lot about how hard we should work to achieve our dreams. I began my career as music composer, music producer, sound engineer and music editor. For 8 years I’ve worked building the drama and discussing how to make narrative more powerful with the sound, music and the silence as well.
The turning point to start as editor was working with Asif Kapadia (Oscar’s winner for Amy Winehouse documentary) on the SENNA documentary. I was Antonio Pinto’s assistant (Senna’s composer) and Asif wanted to use mostly old songs from Antonio. So I had those protools session, with something like 60 channels open, to redesign them against the picture. I could see how impressive could be if I could choose the picture too. Then, I start as editor.
After few years editing short documentaries and branded content, I got into some hard subject documentaries in Brazil. That made me learn a lot about scripts, what I’ve been studying for the past four years now.
The advertisement came in the parallel, and I found it amazing, since I can tell small stories, with beautiful materials really pre designed for the best cut.
