Story | Entry Summary Ageing society has become one of the biggest social problems for Japan today. Many elders who live alone are isolated from society. This TVC was aired to raise awareness towards a slightly forgotten national holiday, “Respect for the Aged Day”. We hoped that this will give the audience a chance to think about the elderly in their family and to take action to show that they care. Brief Explanation Being told by his mother, a young man reluctantly visits his grandmother’s house in the countryside by motorbike. It has been quite a while since he visited, she lives alone and looks very frail. Grandmother rejoices meeting her grandson, but he does not know how to react. He finds an old motorbike covered in dust in the barn shed. He picks up a photo displayed in a room. There he sees his grandmother and grandfather in their younger days standing in front of a motorbike surrounded by canola flowers. The young man has a good idea, and purchases something on Amazon. The next day, his package is delivered... Scene changes to a beautiful canola field, grandmother and young man are riding motorbike together, with smiles on their faces. He had bought a helmet for his grandmother. She closes her eyes in bliss, as if she reminisces her younger days. |
