TitleHelp a small Dane
BriefDenmark has one of the highest rates of melanoma in the world.A key factor is that Danes love a holiday in the sun but forget sufficient sun protection when travelling abroad. On a sunny holiday abroad, many Danes get as much UV radiation in a week as they do inalmost half a year in Denmark and last year a total of 40 % of all Danish children was sunburned on their vacation.“Help a Small Dane” takes a new approach to skin cancer prevention: it's presented by a gang of local kids who stage an intervention pleading viewers not to let Danish kids get sunburned.Their leader, a Spanish boy by the name of Ramon humorously leads a crusade against sunburnt Danish children, who he declares are “so boring to play with” after they’ve spent too much time in the sunlight since they’re too distracted by their pain.

Story Kids of the world stage an intervention to protect Danish kids from skin cancer in the Danish Cancer Society's latest campaign. Last year alone, four out of 10 children in Denmark were sunburnt on holiday. Many Danes get as much UV radiation in a week in Mallorca as they do in almost half a year in Denmark and are at increased risk of skin cancer, including melanoma, in the long term. This latest tongue-in-cheek campaign sees children from around the world taking action to help put an end to this issue. Set in Alcúdia, Mallorca (a popular holiday destination for sun-seeking Danes), the film sees local kid, Ramon, urging small Danes to protect themselves from the sun’s rays so that they can stop being ‘red and boring’ and play with the other kids.
